ANDY MOFFAT – Co-opted Governor (Co-Chair of Governors)
My name is Andy Moffat and I have been a Governor at Wheatfields School since 2012, originally as a Parent Governor and now as a Co-opted Governor. I originally put myself forward as a Governor to offer my background in local government, and experience and skills in performance and financial management in particular. I wanted to do what I could to ensure that all children at the school had the opportunity to fulfil their potential in all aspects of school life, not just academically, and that remains my motivation.
PAUL PROSSER - Co-opted Governor (Co-Chair of Governors)
I first joined the Governing Body as a Parent Governor in 2021 and am now a Co-opted Governor. I have two children who attend the school and seeing the way in which their schooling had become such a big part of their life motivated me to become a governor. I have seen first-hand how important a rounded setting is for children in primary school and being able to be a part of that for Wheatfields' children is a real honour. We live in challenging times, and ensuring that children have the best start to their educational life is more important than ever – I’m passionate about creating inclusive opportunities, and giving children the tools to grasp those opportunities, being supported by a group of talented teaching and pastoral staff.
Professionally, I work for one of the UKs biggest Building Societies in a Senior Leadership role and in my career have always been focused on helping people to thrive. My work involves some hugely sensitive issues, often life-changing. As well as skills in Finance and Leadership, I bring a pragmatic knowledge of Diversity & Inclusion that I hope will really help to build a rounded school that reflects the communities we serve.
NICOLA TABB - Partnership Governor (Vice-Chair of Governors)
I joined the governing body at Wheatfields as a Parent Governor in January 2022 and now serve as a Partnership Governor. My child attended Wheatfields before moving on to secondary school and I have seen through his journey in the school, what a wonderful, welcoming and warm place Wheatfields is to learn and grow.
My career as a teacher in Secondary and Further Education has helped me realise how much of an impact the early years of education have on a child’s life, not only the academic side but also the social and emotional parts.
I am passionate about creating inspiring learning environments which are accessible to all and create a love of learning for life.
I am grateful for the opportunity to join the governing body at Wheatfields and to be able to support all the amazing work that they do.
JENNIFER ADAMS - Co-opted Governor
I joined the Governing Body in 2021 after both my daughters started at Wheatfields School. I, myself, attended the school and have always lived locally so very much wanted to support the school in any way I could. I understand how important it is for children to have access to the best start to their education possible and I am proud to be able to support the school in delivering this.
Outside of this role I work for a FTSE 250 company heading up client services and am a chartered accountant. Alongside this I have trained to be a life coach and am also heavily involved in mentoring students across the business in their accountancy exams. I have always had a passion for growing individuals in whatever goals they may have and look forward to bringing this passion to the school.
MELICA CUTBUSH - Staff Governor
As a staff member at Wheatfields for the past six years, I feel that it is vital that a voice from working members of staff is heard on the governing body.
I have been in education, in various roles, for over 24 years and have seen much change. I want to ensure that the one thing that doesn’t change is that the children are at the centre of every decision that is made. It is also vital, however, that the wellbeing of all staff is considered in every decision too.
As SEMH lead for the school, I aim to safeguard and promote children’s wellbeing and mental health: supporting both the child and their families by offering advice and signposting where appropriate.
EMMA VERNEY-DAVIES – Acting Headteacher
My name is Emma Verney-Davies and I am Acting Headteacher of Wheatfields Primary School. As Headteacher, I sit on every committee. I am responsible for the operational, day to day running of the school and the Governing Body support me in the strategic development of the school.
